I work in the medical field. Part of my job used to be performing EKG’s (electrocardiogram) on patients. An electrocardiogram monitors your heart rhythm for problems.
Obviously it is best to have a good, healthy, heart rhythm. In the same way it is important that the heart of our prayer life is on a healthy spiritual rhythm of daily prayer and Bible reading. In my opinion, glorifying, thanking, honoring, praising, and focusing on the Trinity on a daily basis keeps the heart of our prayer life on proper rhythm. A healthy EKG reveals that there are high points and low points, but they flow together and make a beautiful rhythm that makes our whole body sing day in and day out. When that rhythm is obstructed, pain and disorientation replace the song that should be coming forth from our body. In the same way, when the rhythm of our daily prayer life is obstructed by worldliness and lack of prayer, our spiritual life doesn’t sing like it was created to. Focusing on the Trinity in our prayers keeps the heart of our spiritual life focused, stable, and on proper rhythm day in and day out, year after year, for the rest of our lives. Below is one example of how we can focus and bring glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. I have compiled some of the ancient creeds and old hymns of the faith. In 2011, why not bring glory to the Trinity every morning, at midday, and every evening? May God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit be in every high and low point of this year. Start the rhythm of prayer, and let God’s glory sing forth from you this year.
